The Universidad Anáhuac México Norte was founded in 1964 as a central institution belonging to the Legion of Christ Educational Project. It offers more than 28 undergraduate programs, and more than 40 postgraduate programs.

Anáhuac means "near the water" in Nahuatl, the ancient Aztec language spoken in Tenochtitlan, which used to be the biggest and most crowded place in Central America, and now Mexico City, the home of the university.

The University has been distinguished lately due to the investment of more than $54 million dollars since 1990 into the campus.

A library with more than 200,000 books, one of the biggest in Mexico, is one of its best accomplishments.

In sports, the Anáhuac's soccer team, Pegaso Anáhuac is in the Mexican Primera A (professional football second division).

Universidad Anahuac in turn is part of the Anahuac Universities Network, an international network of Catholic universities led by the Legionaries of Christ, which share a mission and an educational model. It is made up of universities at an international level with ten institutions in Mexico, one in Chile, one in Spain, two in Italy and two more in United States. In addition, the Virtual University Anahuac serves corporate clients from twenty-five virtual institutional offices located in various countries throughout the world.

Moreover, the Anahuac Universities Network share the international education system of the Legion of Christ called the Education Consortium Anáhuac (CEA) in 18 countries and serving over 100,000 students from kindergarten to graduate school.

Anahuac University was founded in 1964 by the priest P. Marcial Maciel LC, its first campus was the Universidad Anahuac Mexico Norte in Mexico City.

Mexico Norte Campus

The Anahuac campus occupies an area of approximately 220,000 sq. meters. Altogether, it includes 4 cafeterias, 6 auditoriums, 1 chapel, 1 exposition center, 175 classrooms, 27 laboratories, 21 workshops, 18 computer labs.

The sports facilities are highly developed, as it hosts the Real Madrid soccer school franchise. Additionally, it has several basketball, volleyball, tennis, padel, soccer, indoor, football courts.

History

Universidad Anahuac emerged in 1964 as a key element in the educational project of the Legionaries of Christ and the founding of the congregation by Father Marcial Maciel LC.

With the objective of enhancing the human condition and social status of men and women from Mexico through a comprehensive training, the Anahuac University began its activities in a house located in Lomas Virreyes and only enrolled forty-eight students in two degrees: Business Administration and Economics. Under the stewardship of Father Faustino Pardo LC, opened in the following years: Psychology and Human Sciences in 1965, Architecture and Law in 1966. In parallel, thanks to the support of distinguished Mexican businessmen, began the construction of new facilities at Lomas Anahuac.

In 1968, not only did the first generation graduate from Anahuac, but also new campus opened on June 4. Based on those years of effort and confidence in the future, the Universidad Anahuac was consolidated and today, it is recognized as one of the most prestigious private institutions of higher education in the country.

The Government recognized this fact since 1981, giving it the Law of Autonomy and Validez Oficial de Estudios.

The Anahuac University has 14 faculties, the Real Madrid soccer football school and the Cordon Bleu authorized culinary program.

The medical school offers a specialism in Gynecology and Obstetrics.

ASUA (Social Action of the Universidad Anahuac)

The student body has a high commitment to social formation of the Anahuac University students, which encourages the development of a genuine social conscience based on universal values and promotes leadership and service to others through concrete actions.

Its mission is to consolidate the Universidad Anahuac in the full participation of students, creating a spirit of Positive Leadership Action for social improvement for people with physical, spiritual or human needs. This is done by creating and promoting social development projects through the support of students, alumni, faculty and administration.

FESAL (Federation of Student Societies)

The aim of the Federation of Student Societies is to promote, organize and direct participation of students in the activities of the Schools of the Universidad Anahuac. With the sole purpose of assisting in the training of students, it conducts quality events in the schools.

Anáhuac Day

FESAL organizes Anáhuac Day, a day of integration for the entire university community, which includes students, teachers, managers and administrative staff through cultural activities, sports and recreation, a day in which all members of the University celebrate being part of it.

Anáhuac Excellence Program

VÉRTICE (Excellence Program)

VÉRTICE is a Program of Excellence for the training of students who, given their high academic performance and leadership abilities, will occupy key positions in society and are able to positively transform by generating ideas, creativity and services.

The program is conformed by the best 80 students of each generation, chosen among all the undergraduate programs, because of their talent and intellectual capacity.

The program's students participate in a range of activities aimed at their integral formation, aiming to learn to reason rigorously and maximize their capabilities and leadership potential.

The outstanding academic, social, cultural and human backgrounds of VÉRTICE graduates will allow them to transform their environment, through innovative proposals focused on the leadership of positive action.

Anáhuac Leadership Programs

Anahuac University has created and manages the Anahuac Leadership Programs. These are made up of high-potential students seeking a comprehensive education as professionals and individuals, in addition to living intensely their way through college.

Students enrolled in these programs have meetings, to allow them to come into contact with political, cultural, sports, academics, business and social leaders. They participate in national and international training seminars, to broaden their vision about their country and the world.

The take part in integration activities such as: meetings, meals and weekends away to strengthen their relationships and their integration with the group. Visits to museums and cultural institutions of various kinds are organized for them to broaden their knowledge and professional horizons.

CIMA (Administrative Leadership Program)

CIMA is the University Leadership Program designed to maximize the qualities of students distinguished by their ease to interact, guide, motivate, persuade and engage other young people through training, expanding their vision of the world and allowing them to reflect on the role which they should play in modern society.

Many CIMA alumni still participate in activities of university life.

The program provides the necessary training to increase their organizational skills and teamwork as well as a thorough education in human values focused on developing Positive Action Leadership.

IMPULSA (Social Leadership)

IMPULSA is the Leadership Program at the Anahuac University of Social Sciences integrating students possessing a sensitive social conscience and strong concern to detonate high-level projects for the transformation of society.

Students integrate IMPULSA to acquire leadership of positive action in favor of social development and to enhance their skills and human values, to become true social entrepreneurs.

Today, organizations in support of social projects are expanding and therefore require constant professionals interested in helping the disadvantaged. IMPULSA helps to create a new generation of professionals in the Third Sector, which will allow these social projects are sustainable and help achieve effective social causes that need help.

GENERA (Business Leadership Program)

The Business Leadership Program seeks to form Entrepreneur with a global vision and with a commitment to ethics and society.

Its aim is to understand the business world and together with key business leaders who drive the Mexican economy to prepare to compete with Positive Action Leadership in the globalized world of business.

Students with entrepreneurial spirit benefit from a generous support to carry out their projects through a formation focused on the development of business in a highly complex and competitive world, always reinforced by universal human values.

Its members have the opportunity to meet with key national and international businessmen. In addition, the program provides a continued reflection on business ethics and how one should behave as a future business leader.

ACTION (Sports Leadership)

The Sports Leadership program is designed for the comprehensive education of students with outstanding athletic performance and leadership. It is made up of students from the teams representing the University.

These athletes learn to enhance their attitudes and develop their abilities and skills around leadership in physical activity. They are provided with the tools necessary to ensure that, in a professional and creative world, they can find in sport a successful way of life that extends to all areas of their life.

ACTION students have the opportunity to participate directly in several of the best sporting events and meeting in person to the top athletes from various disciplines, as well as visiting the main sports institutions in Mexico and the world.

CREA (Leadership Program in Communication)

CREA is the Leadership Program in Communication to train and develop fully the qualities of students in the School of Communication.

The commitment to the development of Mexico, familiarity with the intellectual environment in the areas of communication, group management, public speaking and debate, professional training, public relations and the commitment and responsibility as future opinion leaders, are some of the areas that students are confronted with on this ambitious program.

CREA provides students with additional training to receive additional experience, through various activities, workshops and seminars. It also seeks to broaden the skills of students by offering its members many benefits for their training.

CULMEN (Leadership Program in Arts and Culture)

CULMEN is a human development program that integrates the skills of creativity, innovation, talent and commitment. Students in CULMEN reach the highest artistic quality to exercise their leadership of positive action in the field of arts and culture.

The program aims to highlight human leadership, culture, integrity, talent and commitment to society.

CULMEN students graduate with a broad knowledge of culture and the arts, so they can perform at different levels, national and international, artistic performance, artistic critique and cultural management.

CULMEN students are proactive, responsible, creative, committed and with the facility to interact and develop team projects, in addition to being sensitive to cultural events and possess artistic abilities and awareness of their social commitment.

Sports

The aim of the sports department within the University is to encourage and promote sports among students and across the Anahuac Community in general, to form habits of discipline and morality through adequate facilities, qualified coaches and quality programs that also lead the institution to achieve a high degree of competitiveness at the national level

Its mission is to facilitate the process of formation and development of people of integrity who, for their excellent professional and cultural level, for his deep human and moral values based on the perennial Christian humanism, and his genuine social conscience, are leaders for positive action to promote authentic development of man and society.

The mascot of the University is represented by a falcon that symbolically reflects the virtues of athletes, who by training, constantly develop the skill, ability, speed and intelligence.
